After an absence of over six years, the world's most popular and versatile taxidermy knife is back on the market and better than ever! Nearly 10,000 taxidermists have discovered the outstanding value and quality of the original "Perfect Knife" which was introduced by WASCO to the taxidermy industry in the 1980's. When the Perfect Knife went out of production in 2002, taxidermists everywhere were disappointed that their favorite all-purpose skinning and fleshing knife was no longer available at any price.

For years, WASCO searched the world for a replacement for this knife. When we couldn't find one, we decided to turn to a leading knife company. Working closely with the Profero Knife Corporation, we based this new design on the things we liked best about the original Perfect Knife, but then made some very useful improvements! We needed to use a premium steel that would withstand heavy use. The new Perfect Knife uses the Profeo 440HC Premio Inox™ premium stainless steel blade. The Profero 440HC Premio Inox™ blade has the highest hardness and wear resistance of all stainless steel alloys. This high chromium stainless steel alloy is highly rust and corrosion resistant, while maintaining its ability to take a sharp cutting edge. It is also easier to sharpen than other grades of stainless steel, making it a better choice for industrial blades. We kept the ideal reverse-curve blade that made it an industry favorite, and we kept the high quality that will allow you to move between delicately fleshing around a whisker base to cutting a five-gallon bucket in half!

But we made improvements too! With the help of the knife design professionals at Profero, we added almost an inch of length to the handle so it would easily fit into the largest hands. We designed the handle with a non-slip and high-tactile grip. The glass-filled nylon handle to help you keep your grip in the messiest situations. We added a large quillon to the front of the handle to help keep fingers from sliding onto the blade. We included a lanyard hole at the rear of the handle for hanging storage. One of the most exciting new features is the addition of a multi-purpose scraping and chisel tool at the opposite end of the blade. The result is a knife that will quickly become your favorite taxidermy studio tool! Use it for skinning and caping out deer heads, intricate detail work around the mouth, eyes, nose, and ears on game heads, fleshing (it's especially good for fleshing around individual whisker roots), skinning ducks and other birds, cleaning legs and wings, and much more. We came across this knife when we couldn't get any more of the original "Perfect Knives" out of Germany. Similar in style to the Perfect Knife, but it has a plastic handle and a slightly longer blade. It is also about one-fourth the price.
