Paper Mache

Sallie Dahmes Mache
Sallie Dahmes mache is creamy and smooth, somewhat stronger and "stickier" than Jim Hall mache. It is used around the antler base to create a smooth contour over the skull plate of deer and other game heads. Once you have secured the antler plate permanently in place with screws, mix a fairly stiff batch of mache. Use it to sculpt in and replace the meat and membrane that was removed from the back of the skull and to blend the skull cap into the mannikin. It sets in about an hour to a "hard" surface that will readily accept hide nails. When mixed with water, this mache is easily sculpted with the fingers or a wet brush, making it the ideal choice for mannikin alterations and repair. Sallie Dahmes Mache will also do the best job and is less expensive than other filler materials for base work. Perfect for sheep and goat game heads.
