Rehydration Agents

Knobloch's Pre-Tan #110
This concentrated product is added to the salt brine solution to help set the hair, retard bacterial growth, and to pre-tan the skin. It helps to make shaving easier, and produces softer leather. Does not require neutralization, and will not reduce stretch. Add three ounces of Pre-Tan #110 to each gallon of brine solution. Allow the skin to soak for four to six hours, remove from solution, drain, shave and place back in solution for one hour longer. After shaving, rinse well and drain, then apply Liqua-Tan. When using this product with Liqua-Tan, a pickle solution is not needed.

Knobloch's Relax R
This oil-based skin relaxer can be used in the rehydration solution to help relax dry salted skins or tanned skins prior to mounting. Simply add two ounces of Relax R to every five gallons of brine solution. Soak the skin until partially pliable, remove the skin and proceed with the salt bath or pickle.

Knobloch's Enzol B
This new "wonder-drug" for taxidermy tanning helps rehydrate raw skins (especially dried African skins). It helps degrease and remove blood from skin and hair, cleans hair, and breaks down non-tannable proteins. Tanned skins rehydrate in less than half the time, and ear cartilage is easier to remove. It also removes natural animal odors.
