How to Mount Artificial Deer Feet

Step 1 Holding the hair back, make a clean, even cut around the hooves with a sharp knife or scalpel.

Step 2 In between the hooves, make a cross-cut (from hoof to hoof) to allow the skin to be freed.

Step 3 On the back side, make a straight cut from the dew claw to the hooves on both sides.

Step 4 Make a clean cut around each dew claw and work the skin back.

Step 5 Work the skin back on the top of the hoof and it can be pulled free from this point.

Step 6 The skin is removed from the hoof. This procedure can be accomplished in only a few minutes.

Step 7 A comparison of the real and artificial hoof. The skin can be preserved in your usual manner.

Step 8 Pull the skin over the artificial hoof.

Step 9 A hide paste is used under the skin for adhesion. Killer Glue should be used at the union with the hooves.

Step 10 Position the skin around the dew claws and lower hooves with the same glue process.

Step 11 Top view of the completed whitetail foot.

Step 12 Each artificial foot has a threaded bolt of the proper length for quick attachment to a 3/4" panel.
