From taxidermist Boxie Kallina, who brought you the Speed Septum, comes another revolutionary idea for speeding up your mounting time. The Speed Feather Setter is a flexible magnetic strip which can be cut to length and used to quickly and easily position bird feathers and hold them in place for drying. The magnetic strip is 1/2" wide and approximately 10 feet long. One side is grooved to accomodate support wires.

The Speed Feather Setter will not only reduce the time in setting feathers but also will produce a better result than with any other method. The action of the two magnets on the feathers pressing towards each other creates for a very solid lock. Re-adjustments can also be made more easily. Speed Feather Setters can be used over and over again. You will be glad to throw away the pins, tape and carding material. One Speed Feather Setter will do two medium ducks. On very large birds like geese the strips work fine although the last five or six primary feathers on the end of the wing may need some additional carding because the thickness of their quills hampers the magnetic field.
