Wet Look Gloss
This is a very high gloss that is extremely good for the final coat on all fish. There is no limit to the number of coats that can be applied -- the more coats, the higher the gloss (most artists prefer to apply 3 or 4 moderate coats.) Wet Look Gloss should be applied with a large capacity touch-up gun or sprayer -- not with an airbrush. When spraying the final gloss coat, try to make the fish appear "wet all over" at the same time. To reduce the possibility of runs, spray a light "flash coat" of gloss all over the fish. When it becomes tacky (about 4 minutes for FP paints or 20 minutes for WA paints), spray a second "wet coat." The flash coat will help to hold the wet coat in place and reduce the risk of runs. If a run does develop, rotate the fish in your hand until it disappears.

Polytranspar Wet Look Gloss is also available in convenient and inexpensive aerosol spray cans (lacquer version only). These are perfect for touch-ups, rush jobs, or if you just don't want to hook up the compressor or clean your spray gun. Keep several cans handy around your shop.

Satin Sheen Gloss
This subtle gloss coat is designed for applications requiring subdued gloss such as waterfowl bills and legs, wild turkey heads, wood carvings, and for underwater scenes where the fish's gloss should appear somewhat more subdued or flat.

Polytranspar Competition Wet Look Gloss
This is absolutely the premium gloss finish. Competition Gloss is a two-component polyurethane coating that yields a very high gloss with fewer coats. Mix in exact proportions (7 parts A to 1 part B) and stir well. This gloss must be used as soon as possible after stirring before the mixture catalyzes into a hard urethane resin. This is the highest gloss finish on the market. One coat of FP241 is equivalent to 4 to 5 coats of FP240. Apply only to completely dry surfaces. (moisture will cause bubbles.) It will be dust free in two hours and fully dry overnight. Catalyst included. Do not mix with any other product (other than lacquer thinner or retarder if necessary). Clean sprayer immediately after use with lacquer thinner. Cannot be shipped by air.

Refracted Frost
Refracted Frost is used as an additive in other colors or gloss coats to reduce or flatten the apparent gloss. By varying the amounts of Refracted Frost added, the final coat can be controlled from a gloss down to a dead flat finish.

Gloss Flattener
Sallie Dahmes says that this is the greatest paint additive for waterfowl she's ever seen! Simply add a pinch of this powder to your color cup, mix thoroughly, and you'll reduce the shine of any color or gloss from a subdued satin sheen all the way down to a dead flat! Stirs in easily. Works great for bird feet and bills, fish carvings, underwater scenes, or anywhere you want a subdued gloss or flat finish. Works for both FP (lacquer-based) and WA (water-based) paints.
