Fish Carving with Closed Cell Foam with Steve Vanderford
Carving a large fish from wood is not for the faint of heart. There are many problems that arise when carving fish over 20 inches in length. Wood is very heavy for large fish, wood can check with moisture, wood can be expensive, and the initial "hogging" is not much fun! Closed cell foam on the other hand is light, inexpensive, carves fast and does not check! It seems to be the perfect medium for larger fish, and Steve Vanderford of Michigan has made a career using closed cell foam to carve large fish like steelhead, hex hatch browns and northern pike. He has taken what he learned about foam carving and has made this 31/2 hour DVD showing the tools and techniques to be successful from your very first try at this exciting new medium.

Whether you are new to fish carving, or an experienced fish carver, this DVD on carving closed cell foam will quickly show you that you do not need expensive tools to be successful. Because closed cell foam has no grain, it allows you to better utilize your foam. Scraps left over from cutting out your fish can easily be converted to rocks and other habitat. After teaching you how exciting the world of closed cell foam carving is, we finish by showing you how to easily prepare your fish for final painting. 3 1/2 hour DVD.
