Paint Schedule for Best in World Walleye
By World Champion Alan Gaston -- Burnsville, MN

* Paint Lightly whenever asterisk appears

  1. Even up faded skin areas and fillers to match skin. (I use 3 parts chocolate brown FP70 to 1 part black FP30), also, highlight markings along back (black FP30).
  2. Superhide White FP10 -- paint mouth, belly, gill cover and throat latch, areas around lips, between rays* on pelvic and anal fins, and tips of pelvic, anal and tail, mist dorsal.
  3. Sparkling White Pearl FP400 -- paint lips*, jaw, lower half of cheek*, and lower part of belly to blend in with white.
  4. Bright yellow FP260 -- mist pectoral fins, paint markings on dorsal and tail fin and lightly down rays on pelvic fins.
  5. Flesh (mix 20 drops of white FP10, 1 drop red FP160, 2 drops yellow ochre FP141) paint lips*, lower portion of cheek*, middle of anal fin*.
  6. Bright Yellow FP260 & Shimmering Gold FP442 -- (We jokingling call this Gaston Yellow because I use this on many different species, bass and sunfish especially -- nice color!) -- Mix equal parts of bright yellow FP260 and shimmering gold FP442 and paint markings on head, cheek and body (apint each scale on body that has a white spot on it). Mist dorsal fins and tail. I usually come down the side of the fish with chocolate brown FP70 after the yellow-gold scales are painted. I didn't do that too much on mine because I caught it ice fishing and they are a little more pale in this condition.
  7. Transpar Orange FP380 -- Mist over pink to give fleshy look, mist over rays on pelvic fins.
  8. Light Transpar Green FP350 -- Mist along back.
  9. Dark Brown -- 3 parts chocolate brown FP70, 1 part black FP30 -- Darken top of fhis and blend head in.
  10. Black FP30 -- Spray leading edges of pectoral, second dorsal and tail at extreme angle and darken trailing edges on second dorsal and tail. Also, last two webs on dorsal.
  11. Gold Toner FP360 -- medium spray on head, back, lips & cheek.
  12. Gloss -- Competition Wet Look FP241. One coat.
